Evgeny Rukhin 1943 –1975, Composition, 1974, Collage, mixed media on canvas, 28 x 26.4 in
Russian avant-garde painter. He was born in Saratov, Russiain 1943 . He graduated in geology from the University of Leningrad, but learned painting by unofficially attending lectures at the Mukhina College of Art and Manufacture in Leningrad. His paintings were highly controversial. At the age of 32 he died in a mysterious fire in his studio, widely believed to have been started by the KGB as atactic to scare him into conformity.Today Rukhin’s work can be found in most prestigious private and public collections worldwide.
