Alexander Altman was born in Kiev region in 1885.At the age of 11 Altman flew to Odessa where he worked as tailor and fitter. A local artist Doroshenko suggested to young Altman that he should study art. In 1905 Altman moved to Vienna and then to Paris where he studied art at the Art Academy.    Altman painted impressionistic landscapes in the vicinity of Paris. His first solo exhibition took place in 1908. He exhibited his work at the Salon d’Automne, at the Salon des Tuileries in Paris and at Izdebsky’s Salon. His works are in Muse³e du Luxembourg, Paris and other European and American museums.
